Very soon, I'll start studying how to read and write in Japanese. Although I'm in the middle of my preparations for the midterm exams in law school, I will be updating my digital library to choose which references from my downloads I'll be using for the next stage of my learning. I'm especially interested in organizing my studies around the JLPT list of words and Kanji characters for specific levels of proficiency. Hopefully, I can take Level 3.
Right now, I have several books in Japanese which I bought in Osaka, Japan last January. They are all available (surprise!) in amazon.com Japan. I have: The Da Vinci Code, The Smart Investor, and some business book about some profession or work. (I was able to read the Japanese word for "work".) I also have two books about writing in Kanji or at least, that's what they appear to be. One of them is this, but I haven't created a reference to the other one yet because I can't get a decent (or readable) review from amazon.com Japan.
