Knapsack Problem

We are going to leave for the Philippines tomorrow and my classmates and I have a worrisome knapsack problem to solve. A week before our departure, I noticed a possible problem. In this photo, I was actually sitting on 5kgs of books that was occupying half of my luggage space. And I haven't even bought any souvenirs yet to bring home.


Days after, I became aware of this mathematical problem when I was looking for an image of a knapsack that I can use for my blog and found the knapsack problem article at wikipedia.org. Anyway, it turned out that it wasn't too much of a problem for me because I came to Japan with a half-filled luggage. But the experience was very instructive for would-be airline travelers.
